Why does cream rise to the top?
A question that so many ask
Might it be its color, creed?
Or is there more to such a task?
Irony: it’s funny, see
At times it rhymes and makes much sense
Homogenizing prevents rising
Cream climbs ‘cause it isn’t dense
It understands the law of lands
That merit is a means to more
More for you, and more for me
Never, ever, keeping score
Don’t hold down anyone ‘round
Let them do their very best
Let them rise and fall their own
Let no one cheat on life’s cold test
Yes, it’s cruel, play not the fool
Don’t settle for trends of today
Victors, losers, they exist
Let no one tell you what to say
Carve your path with love, or wrath
Either one, they work the same
Both can be the brick that builds
When they think and hear your name
All that matters when it’s done
The things you’ll think of, looking back
Is how you handled pain, or joy
And how it helped you stay on track
