Taken for Granted

Hang on, you can’t be serious

You’re on something, delirious

That lady who was here? He just

Left without a word

I saw that things got out of hand

No one saw that coming, and

It’s obvious this wasn’t planned

But arguments were heard

Instead of making peace, amend

For reasons I can’t comprehend

Even though he’s her boyfriend

On her, he put the blame

He didn’t stop to wonder if

Twas his unbending thoughts t’were stiff

He’d sooner jumped right off love’s cliff

Than tarnish his own name

And so that’s how the story goes

It’s one which everybody knows

‘Cause everybody fakes a pose

To play this same old game
