What if the rules were different
Than the ones we know today?
What if our laws amended
Would we think it was okay?
What if women couldn’t vote
No voice, no rights, not free?
What if the status quo was still
That blacks were property?
What if our reps ignored us
Serving only them and theirs?
What if the laws they drafted
Ignored public affairs?
Of course all that’s atrocity but
Forget not we aren’t far removed
From times like those, believe or not
The days when they were truths
Remember, friends, our history
It must be understood
We’re all in this, united
We must always fight for good
So how do we go about it?

I think it should be simple, really. Make the right decisions and don’t intentionally do things that adversely affect others.
Take the righteous path whenever possible. Love others, work hard, and appreciate the life you’re given.
Perhaps an overly simplified ideaology, but that wouldn’t be the case if we had better sense. The most important thing is to always progress. Moving forward is all we can ask.
